Evan Kates is a Vice President of Portfolio Company Operations at NewSpring dedicated to the firm's mezzanine strategy. Evan has over seven years of experience in private equity finance and value creation across middle market companies.

Most recently, Evan served as Director of Finance Value Creation at Graham Partners, where he worked alongside investment teams and portfolio company management teams to build strong operating foundations and drive disciplined financial execution. In this role, he developed and executed enterprise-wide value creation strategies, improved portfolio company financial infrastructure, and drove significant EBITDA growth, cash flow improvement, and enterprise value expansion. Prior to that, Evan was a Director at Beckway, an Operating Company for Private Equity, where he led financial and operational due diligence, integration strategy, and post-close value creation engagements across a range of industries including packaging, transportation, and specialty chemicals. Earlier in his career, Evan was a Consultant at Grant Thornton, where he led financial and operational risk assessments and developed mitigation strategies for Fortune 500 companies.

Evan holds a BA in Economics from Penn State University and an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst.
