May 31, 2017
Radnor, PA – May 25, 2017 - NewSpring Capital ("NewSpring"), a family of private equity funds, announced today the completion of its inaugural NewSpring Investment Thesis Competition. This initiative was sponsored by NewSpring Growth Capital, the Firm’s dedicated growth and expansion stage fund, and featured participants from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
The competition provided interested students with the opportunity to develop a growth-stage investment thesis and receive direct access to NewSpring investment professionals while researching their ideas. With deep investment and business development connections in the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly Philadelphia, NewSpring launched this endeavor to continue to foster a mutually-beneficial relationship with the student body of Wharton, further supporting the local private equity community.
NewSpring would like to congratulate students, Matt Premus and Jake Stoller on their first place victory, Tyler Flint and Matt Klein as second place runners-up, and third place recipients, Drew Schulz and Eric Turner. Throughout the process, the participants worked closely with NewSpring team members to analyze market sizes, understand regulatory concerns, diligence business models, and identify investment prospects.
“We were very impressed by the caliber of submissions for the competition and greatly enjoyed working alongside the teams to help shape and refine their ideas,” said Glenn Rieger, NewSpring General Partner. “NewSpring looks forward to hosting this competition again in 2018 and is proud to support and encourage students interested in private equity investing.”
