Brian Murphy is General Partner of NewSpring and a Founding Partner of the Firm’s dedicated healthcare funds. Brian has over 30 years of entrepreneurial, general management, M&A, and private equity experience, with a strong background in business strategy, investment structuring, organizational growth, and negotiation of mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining NewSpring in 2002, Brian founded Acquisition Management Services, Inc. (“AMS”), a diversified corporate development advisory firm focusing on middle-market companies. AMS closed more than 330 acquisitions for its buy-side clients.

Brian also founded two venture-backed startups, WordWave, a legal court reporting and broadcast captioning leader (later sold to Merrill Corp.) and Precyse Solutions, a provider of medical transcription and health information services to acute care hospitals.

Previously, he held executive positions for several healthcare service companies, most notably NovaCare, Inc., Heritage Health Systems, and Partners National Health Plans.

Brian received a BS in Science from the State University of New York at Cortland.
