The Bottom Line: NewSpring Invests in Autism Spectrum Interventions
February 22, 2024
NewSpring, a family of private equity strategies, announced today that NewSpring Mezzanine, the Firm’s dedicated private credit strategy, has invested senior subordinated debt and equity to fund the acquisition of Autism Spectrum Interventions (ASI). Fletch Equity is serving as independent sponsor for the transaction.
ASI is a leading provider of specialized therapy for children living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
ASI provides behavioral health services with a specialty in therapy for children living with ASD. With a geographic focus on Southern California, ASI provides its therapy services to children both in schools and through at-home programs. The majority of ASI’s therapy services are facilitated to children through local school districts, which provides the company with consistent funding, demand, and reimbursement rates.
The company is focused on therapist training and employs an experienced clinical staff
With a relentless focus on positive outcomes for children, ASI leverages its internally developed training programs to maintain the highest levels of clinical service in the field of ASD therapy. The company employs nearly 40 clinical staff members and has a team of individuals dedicated to recruiting additional ASD therapists to help grow ASI’s reach to more patients in need.
“Behavioral therapy is a proven method to help children with autism live their best lives. At ASI, we’re committed to delivering the most effective treatments in the settings that are most convenient for our patients, whether that be in schools or at home. We’re thrilled to partner with NewSpring to help broaden the reach of these critical services to more children in need as we continue to grow our company in new markets.”
ASI serves a growing population in a fragmented market
Due to more effective diagnosing efforts, more children with ASD and their families are seeking out the life-enhancing therapies ASI provides. ASI offers a specialized service in a highly fragmented marketplace that is mostly comprised of smaller providers. The company also takes on all cases presented to it, no matter how challenging from a patient behavior perspective.
ASI is led by a qualified management team with deep experience in ASD therapies
ASI Co-Founders Timothy Prior and Kristin Prior are passionate about providing life-enhancing ASD therapies to children in need. They’re also experienced operators, having successfully managed ASI since 2009.
“ASI provides a much-needed service that meaningfully improves the lives of the children receiving treatment. With more families in need of these life-altering therapies, we’re excited to help ASI extend their reach in order to create a bigger impact on families in Southern California and beyond.”
